According to the website Proactiv solution has been developed for the treatment of mild to moderate cases of acne, not serious cases. Like most antibiotics for the treatment of acne, Proactiv Solution uses Benzoylperoxid as one of the most important ingredients. Benzoylperoxid may cause dryness and peeling of the skin. Some side effects may include allergic reactions, such as redness, itching, hives, swelling, and a burning sensation after topical application. Benzoylperoxid can also increase sensitivity to sunlight. As an alternative product, Proactiv Solution has marketed the formula Gentle Kit, with salicylic acid instead of Benzoyl Peroxide.
